Porn blockers are great
If you are trying to watch less porn, going pornfree, nofap, etc. Whatever you are doing, use a porn blocker. It helps you massively.
Porn blockers are amazing.
It is a thing that stops you.
It creates a layer of friction from the ubiquitous internet porn.
For example, let's say you feel the urge to watch it. But now you need to unblock those sites using a complicated process or uninstall the blocking software.
Some of these blocking software like RescueTime, etc. have passwords. Only after typing the password, you can uninstall it. If you give your password to your significant other, accountability partner, parents, etc. it is very difficult to get it when you want it.
Why it is not a clutch
Porn producers and consumers are not the same. Porn producers and studios have massive amounts of money. The can buys a lot of ads. Create apps. Lobby the government. Make research supporting them, etc.
The society is not standing still either. The over sexualization or Pornification is now happening.
You are just an individual. But you have a choice. You can reject all these things and live. But the blockers are very useful. It helps you escape all the carefully laid out traps for you.
Of course, porn blocker won’t cure your porn addiction. You need to put effort into your recovery through therapy, 12-step program, etc. Something that works for you.
You can’t just sit passively and wait for an addiction to go away. You need to fulfill the role your porn habit served you. You can’t just magically gain a porn addiction, in my opinion.
It may seem like a clutch. You may feel like it is not true recovery.
You should have a recovery without relying on anything. Otherwise, you are still addicted. What will happen if porn blockers stop working?
These are all stupid questions. What you want is to reduce or abstain from watching porn. Whatever helps you in this goal is a plus.
Software
DNS filters

Android
You can use a DNS with porn filter. Ex: AdGuard DNS, etc.
Methods:
i) If you use Wi-Fi, then you can use the Android settings to change DNS](https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-how-to-change-dns-in-android-device-8-methods.3273769/).
ii) You can use an app for changing DNS.
Linux
If you use Linux, you can edit your hosts file. Get the list from StevenBlack and also add the sites which still work even after all the blocking done in this list. You need to be a serious porn user to find sites not covered by this list, though.
Windows
You can do this hosts method in windows too. But it is shitty. It caused a lot of problems for me personally. So, use other methods of blocking.
Use the Wi-Fi option to change IPv4 DNS. No need to change IPv6 too. Most websites use IPv4 only.

Router
You can also block it from the router. If you have router login details. But it can be countered with DNS used by device, it seems. So it is not as powerful as I thought.
